Welcome Letter

Dear Parents, Families, and Friends of Classical Charter Schools of America:

Welcome to our 2024-2025 North Carolina School Report Cards! Here, you can find information on our school’s student achievement, safety, teacher quality, attendance, class size, technology resources, and parental involvement.

All four public charter schools in the Classical Charter Schools of America (CCS-America) network are managed by The Roger Bacon Academy, Inc. (RBA) which provides students with a robust classical curriculum taught using the proven Direct Instruction method. This unique curriculum includes coursework in Latin, Cursive, and Grammar, subjects rarely taught in other schools. Our public schools of choice do not implement NC Common Core. Instead, our schools remain committed and work to advance the mission of providing the highest quality educational experience in a safe, clean, and morally strong environment, as we have for the past 25 years.

CCS-America schools are tuition-free, top-ranked, open enrollment public charter schools that welcome all students, regardless of address, income, or ability. The family of schools include Classical Charter Schools of Leland, Classical Charter Schools of Southport, Classical Charter Schools of Whiteville, and Classical Charter Schools of Wilmington. All four campuses are classified as Title I schools. Our schools have received numerous awards, including designations as a “Top 25 School for Academic Growth” and an “Honors School of Excellence” in the state of North Carolina.

Nationally, CCS-America received the designation of 2024-2025 “Star School” from the National Institute for Direct Instruction. CCS-America is one of only three schools/networks to be awarded this recognition nationwide. Our campuses also ranked top of the country in the CLT-8 (Classical Learning Test 8), a test that evaluates a student’s readiness for high school. CCS-Leland tied for first place in the nation, while CCS-Whiteville tied for third.

For the 2024-2025 school year, our family of schools continued to outperform averages for the State of North Carolina and the counties in which we serve. All four schools either met or exceeded growth expectations and had some of the highest proficiency scores in their respective counties. If seen as a school district, CCS-America ranked 17th out of the 112 school districts in the state.

While each school had its own unique testing accomplishments, Classical Charter Schools of Southport took the lead as the highest scoring public elementary/middle school in Brunswick County. Additionally, Classical Charter schools of Leland is the second highest scoring school in the county for reading, only behind its sister Southport campus. We are incredibly proud of all our students and staff for the hard work and dedication that led to these impressive results.

Beyond academics, CCS-America offers students opportunities to participate in a range of extracurricular activities, including a 35-time National Champion cheer squad, a seven-time State Champion archery program, Beta Club, Science Olympiad, and more. Middle schoolers enjoy a full sports program (including soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball) as well as electives designed to help them explore and develop new skills.

CCS-America’s total enrollment has continued to grow, as our campuses now serve over 2,600 students. This growth reflects our priorities of providing a safe environment, character education, and academic excellence.

Our annual Open Enrollment period for all campuses begins December 1st for the 2026-2027 school year. For more information or questions regarding this report card, please visit rogerbaconacademy.com or contact the RBA corporate office at 910.655.3600.
